After my return to Canada in mid December from the tropical environment of Australia, I was moved by the remarkable contrast of seasons. The plane landed in a field of white shimmering snow. Walking out of the airport into the intense cold was more than enough to jar me back to the present moment. After the initial adjustment to the change in scenery and temperature and of course jet lag, I was happy to be back in winter wonderland. My walks in the nearby neighborhood park, where everything was covered in a soft white blanket, the sunlight defining all the beautiful shadows at different times of the day inspired me to do a series in celebration of winter. |
